David Schoenlein
David P. Schoenlein, age 83, of Coldwater, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at Briarwood Village in Coldwater.
He was born July 28, 1942 in Celina to the late John & Regina (Rohler) Schoenlein. On May 16, 1964 in Burkettsville, he married Irene (Stammen) Schoenlein and she preceded him in death in 2014.
He is survived by his daughters, Brenda & Rolly Homan of Coldwater and Rita Fullenkamp of Celina, grandchildren, Derek, Kyle, Rudy Homan and Dale, Norma Fullenkamp, siblings and in-laws, Betty Schoenlein of Ft. Recovery, Rosella & Jim Cronin of York, Maine, LaVern & Jean Stammen of Coldwater, George & April Stammen of Ft. Recovery, John & Linda Stammen of Coldwater, and Jim Barga of Colon, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by siblings and in-laws Sr. Armella Schoenlein, Jim Schoenlein, Luke & Jennie Schoenlein, Della Mae & Paul Luebke, Mary Ann & Adam Esser, Ruth & Robert Platfoot, and Bernice Barga.
Dave was a member of Covenant Community Church in Coldwater. He was also a member of the Atkin Club. Owner of Humpty Dumpty then remodeled to become D&I Carryout in Maria Stein for 13 years with his wife, Irene. He was also an owner of the Red Carpet Inn/Barnyard Restaurant in Coldwater for 17 years. Dave worked for Clean All in Sidney for 4 years. He later retired from Chief's Supermarkets in Coldwater after 15 years.
Dave enjoyed his grandkids, fishing, cooking, and baking. He also enjoyed living at Briarwood Village for 11 years. He had a campsite at Liedy Lake in Colon, Michigan for 9 years. His family and friends were very important to him. He enjoyed outings around Coldwater and Celina on his scooter alongside his special friend, Stacy Heitkamp.
Funeral Service will be held at 4 PM on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater. Friends may call from 2 PM until 4PM at the funeral home.
