Joseph Oen
Joseph F. Oen, 91, of Noble Twp. in rural Auglaize Co., OH, died on Christmas Day 2025.
He was born near Hume, Ohio on Dec 21, 1934 to Marvin and Anna (Hoorman) Oen.
After serving 2 years in the U.S. Army, he married Ruth M. Osting on November 29, 1958 and together Joe and Ruth had a successful dairy farm operation for 45 years. The last time Joe hopped on a tractor and helped on the farm, he was 88 years old!
Joe was also a 4H advisor, an Auglaize County Soil and Water Supervisor, member of Spencerville Young Farmers, and a member of the Eagles Lodge Aerie #767 and American Legion Post #323 in St. Marys. He was very involved with St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Glynnwood, serving in different capacities for over 85 years.
Survivors include children: David (Peggy) Oen, Daniel (Vicki) Oen, Diane Oen and Marilyn (Michael) Poindexter. Grandchildren Nicholas (Taylor) Poindexter, Matthew (Allison) Poindexter, Scott Poindexter, Rick (Caitlyn) Oen, Linda (Brandon) Stoker, and Bridget (Justin) Nedderman. Great grandchildren: Emerson, Will, Rayne, Reese, Oliver, Cooper, Wade, and one on the way. Brothers: Rev. Edward Oen, Urban Oen and William Oen, Sisters: Helen Wilges, Theresa (Michael) Kleintank, Bernadette Schoenlein, Mary Dull, Monica O'Dowd, and Patricia (Allen) Elsass. Brothers in law: Carl (Teresa) Osting and George (Jackie) Osting, sister in law: Alice (Omer) Ricker.
Preceding him in death were his wife Ruth in 2018; brothers-in-laws: William Wilges, Leon Schoenlein, Clyde Dull, Leo O'Dowd, Ralph Osting, Alvin Osting, and Donald Osting: sisters- in-law: Sylvia Oen and Sue Osting.
Faith, family and farming were the cornerstones of Joe's life. He was a man of quiet strength who "showed up" to do his part in every aspect of living.
Visitation hours will be 2 - 4 and 5 - 7 p.m. on Tuesday (12/30) and 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday (12/31) at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 73 West) in St. Marys.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday December 31, 2025 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Glynwood, OH. Con-celebrating the mass will be his brother, the Rev. Edward Oen and the Rev. Alexander Witt. Deacon Martin Brown will serve as homolist.
Burial, will military graveside funeral honors, will follow in the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, his family asks that you please consider donations to St. Patrick's Church or the cemetery next to it (St. Thomas). The preservation of both the church and its cemetery were extremely important to Joe!
