JoAnn Wagner
JoAnn Donna (Fortkamp) Wagner, age 67, of Reed Road, Versailles, passed away of natural causes (following a 4-year battle with cancer) Wednesday morning, December 24, 2025, at the Wilson Health Hospital, in Sidney, Ohio.
She was born August 27, 1958, in Coldwater, Ohio, to the late Vincent & Jean (Reier) Fortkamp. On October 14, 1978, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Sharpsburg, JoAnn married Lawrence "Larry" Wagner who survives.
Also surviving are four sons: Craig Wagner of North Star, Joseph Wagner & fiancée, Bethany Menke of North Star, Kenneth & Jessica Wagner of Versailles and Michael & Molly Wagner of Yorkshire; 13 grandchildren: Haley, Faith and Victoria Wagner, Anna and Henry Wagner, John, Tony, Thomas, Elizabeth and Abigail Wagner and Lauren, Michael and Annabelle Menke; six of seven siblings: Roger & Marilyn Fortkamp of Fort Recovery, Robert (dec.) & Bonnie Fortkamp of Coldwater, Ruth & Dan Pottkotter of Coldwater, Marvin & Bonnie Fortkamp of Fort Recovery, Patricia & Gary Post of Fort Recovery, Kathy Tyler of Cincinnati and Ginny & Gene Schoenlein of Fort Recovery as well as sisters & brothers-in-law: Jane & Rich Willmann of Fort Recovery, Janet & Paul Pottkotter of St. Henry, Joyce & Dale Sherman of Minster, Cindy Wical of Newport and Lee Borchers of Minden, LA, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, John Wagner and mother-in-law & step father-in-law, Patricia (Phlipot) Wagner & Jim Borchers and brothers & sisters-in-law: Miran Wical, Billie Borchers and Andy Borchers.
JoAnn was a 1976 graduate of Fort Recovery High School and had been a Versailles Schools bus driver for 33 years. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church. JoAnn was dedicated to her family and had been an excellent cook and seamstress. Over the years she made dresses for herself and could mend anything for anyone, frequently including stuffed teddy bears. She followed all of her children and grandchildren's school and sports events. As her boys were growing up, JoAnn believed it was important to nurture and motivate them, and she sure did.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at St. Denis Church in Versailles with Rev. Ned Brown presiding. Interment will follow at St. Valbert Cemetery.
Family and friends may call Tuesday, 2:00 to 7:00 PM and Wednesday 8:30 to 9:30 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
Memorials may be made to the Cancer Assoc. of Darke County, North Star Fire Department or the Versailles Firemen of Station 19.
