Deborah Jo Schaefer-Lusczek
Deborah Jo Schaefer-Lusczek was born on June 24th, 1951, to the late Paul Finn and Jeannine (Paul).
She was a beloved member of her community and passed away peacefully on December 11th, 2025, at the age of 74. She will be remembered most for her generous heart and her lifelong devotion to caring for others through the beauty of flowers.
For more than 40 years, as the owner and heart behind her flower shop, Helen's Flowers, Debbie believed flowers were more than arrangements-they were a way to comfort, celebrate, and connect people during life's most meaningful moments. Whether marking a joyful milestone, offering sympathy during times of loss, or simply brightening someone's day, she poured compassion and intention into every arrangement she created.
Her shop was a place of warmth and kindness, where customers often left feeling heard, supported, and uplifted. Debbie had a rare gift for understanding what people needed, even when they struggled to find the words themselves. Through her work, she quietly cared for generations of families and became a trusted presence in the community. Beyond her work, Debbie was known for her unconditional love for her family, her devotion to her faith, her gentle spirit, and her unwavering dedication to others. She found joy in simple moments, meaningful conversations, and the knowledge that she was helping people during both their happiest and hardest times.
Debbie is proceeded in death by her son Howie Schaefer III, daughter Jennifer Schaefer, granddaughter Kayla Schaefer, great grandson Carson Boner, her siblings Pam Lesnau, Cheryl Tracy, Dawn Woodward, and in law Don Lesnau.
Debbie is survived by her husband of fifteen years Joseph Lusczek Jr., and her children, Nychole (Rick) Stammen, MaKenzie (John) Boner, and stepchildren Dina (Neal) Boggs, and Joe Lusczek III. She is also survived by her grandchildren Maria (Jason) Wourms, Michaela (Derek) Poeppelman, Kody (Lydia) Schaefer, Isaac Stammen, Adalee Boner, and step-grandchildren Brett Carpenter (Ashley Kunkle), Kayla Carpenter, and by her great grandchildren Hayli Boner, Colton Poeppelman, Jayden Poeppelman, Howie Schaefer IV, and step great grandchildren, Tyler Hanson, Christopher Hanson, and Daphne Carpenter. Surviving siblings include Paula (Joe) Grigsby of AZ, Ronald (Mary) Finn of Enon, Carol (Leo) Baker of Beavercreek, Gary Finn of Union, Karin Morris of Trotwood, Robin (Terrie) Weaver of Trotwood, and brother-in-law Ed Lusczek of NJ.
Debbie also leaves behind numerous family friends, who will forever cherish her love, strength, and kindness. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and in the enduring beauty she shared with the world.
Mass of Christian Burial for Debbie will be held on Wednesday December 17, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church 233 West Third Street, Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Fr. Andrew Hess Celebrant. Burial will follow in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria, Ohio.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday December 16, 2025, and from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Wednesday at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.
