Born on October 7, 1939, in Wapakoneta, Ohio, Gene was a radiant spirit known for her kindness, compassion, and giving nature. She touched the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Gene's career at Kodak was marked by brilliance and innovation. Working in Research and Development, she was not only a dedicated employee but also a pioneer, creating three patents during her tenure before retiring in 2001. Her intellect was matched by her creativity, which flourished in her kitchen, where she became a phenomenal cook and baker. Friends and family alike fondly remember her famous cheesecake, a delightful treat that brought joy to gatherings.
Her thirst for knowledge and adventure led her to attend Bowling Green State University, where her passion for learning expanded. Beyond academics, Gene had a wide array of interests that included gardening and traveling, often spending her winters in Florida with her dear friend Isabel Shaffer. A devoted reader, she found a special love for the magical world of Harry Potter, and those who knew her can easily envision the Sorting Hat placing her in Gryffindor House for her bravery and loyalty.
Gene cherished her lifelong friendships, which she considered among her proudest accomplishments. She shared many laughs and memories with her close friends, Isabel Shaffer, Sunita (Pratap) Chavan and the many others who held her dear. Richard Howell, her brother, and her nephews, Tom (Jennifer) Howell and Bill Howell, were also significant figures in her life, providing love and support as they created countless memories together.
She rejoined her beloved parents, Wesley and Margery Howell, in eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy defined by her generosity and unwavering spirit. Gene's warmth and compassion made the world a better place, and she will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
