Enjoying fishing and grabbing a snack on the lake

Grand Lake Fishing Report

By Matt Tuttle
Good day everyone. I hope everyone had a great weekend.
Have I said this is my favorite time of year? It's absolutely my favorite time of year.
Our lake is a special gem that we are so lucky to have in our backyard. The number of restaurants and variety is amazing. I have my favorites for certain types of foods that I'm in the mood for.
Lakeside Hideout has a favorite burger of mine. Shingle Shack has pizza and tenderloins that are very good. It's It has a great variety of comfort food. Boardwalk has pizza and shrimp tacos that are next level. Bayview has a great sandwich lineup.
All of these places are accessible by boat. If I'm not guiding or in a tournament, I have a plan for lunch at one of these locations. Support our lake businesses to ensure they will be there year after year.
Now, let's talk fishing.
We have had enough day time heating to keep our water temps warm in the upper 50s and touch 60 degrees. This is keeping crappie structure oriented. Stake beds are holding crappie along with boat lifts. The West Bank boat ramp area stake beds and bass landing stake beds are holding crappie. Don't overlook the stake beds in the hot water hole and at Windy Point. The boat lifts in the Bayview areas are holding crappie especially on the corners of the lifts.
Purple and chartreuse triple tails and white and chartreuse triple tails from B&M Crappie baits along with white and chartreuse hand tied jigs from Mike's hand tied jigs are getting bites in those midafternoon times and cold mornings. I'm using a 5/8-inch cork on six-pound slime line on a 10-foot Outlaw Crappie pole.
