* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:40 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 13.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

Roman Schaefer
Roman W. Schaefer age 90 of Maria Stein died Sunday, October 19, 2025 at Otterbein St. Marys.
He was born May 13, 1935 in St. Rose to the late Bernard & Martina (Braun) Schaefer. On October 11, 1958 he married Shirley (Siefring). She preceded him in death on November 21, 1992. He then married Noemi (Filadelfo) Christopher on October 21, 1994. She survives in Maria Stein, OH.
He is also survived by four children and their spouses, Nancy & Jim Wermert of Coldwater, Pam & Ron Garman of Wapakoneta, Dave & Cheryl Schaefer of Maria Stein, Mark & Joan Schaefer of Maria Stein, a step-daughter Stefanie & Curtis Moeller of Maria Stein; 12 grandchildren; 5 step -grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren with one on the way; and siblings and in-laws: Jane & Bill Boeckman, Jack & Pat Schaefer, Frances Siefring, Jeanette Siefring, Arlete Filadelfo, Socorro Filadelfo, Humberto & Maria Filadelfo, Gilberto & Marcia Filadelfo, Neomesia Filadelfo, Nelmenia Filadelfo & Jenesco Lette, Nelson Andrade, Ruth & Ismar Filadelfo, Heraldo & Anabela Filadelfo, Marlene & Mike Filadelfo, Almir & Kelly Filadelfo.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter Andrea Garman; parents-in-law Florence & Anna Siefring and Neomesio & Almira Filadelfo; and siblings and in-laws Bernard (Pete) & Dorothy Schaefer, Tony Homan, Kenneth Siefring, Lavern Siefring, Mario Filadelfo, Gilson & Beatriz Filadelfo, Mariade Lourdes Filadelfo & Mario Costa, and Jair Filadelfo.
Romie graduated from Coldwater High School in 1953 and then served his country in the US Army stationed in Germany. He worked for Goettemoeller Construction, Superior Silo, was a self-employed poultry operator and farmer, and a seed salesman. He was a former president of Maria Stein Grain and Fertilizer and at the age of 88 delivered parts for O'Reilly Auto Parts. Romie was an avid toy tractor collector. He enjoyed attending sporting events, farm shows, tractor pulls and agriculture field days. He was a member of the Knights of St. John and a social member of the Chickasaw V.F.W. Romie enjoyed his nightly rides on his golf cart with beloved dog Coco. He didn't know a stranger and talked to everyone.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, October 24, 2025 at St. Rose Catholic Church. Following the funeral mass, burial will take place in St. Rose Cemetery.
Friends and family may call from 3 to 7 pm on Thursday or 9 to 9:45 am on Friday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
