Shirley Larger
Shirley Ann (Hein) Larger, age 90, of Fort Loramie, Ohio, passed away peacefully of natural causes Friday afternoon, October 17, 2025, at Wilson Health Hospital in Sidney, Ohio.
She was born on September 11, 1935, in Coldwater, Ohio, to the late Xavier Herman and Lotus Mae (Roberts) Hein. On January 5, 1956, she was united in marriage to James H. Larger at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Coldwater. He preceded her in death on July 26, 1981.     
Surviving are seven of her eight children & their spouses: Jane & David Peck of Piqua, Mark & Maria Larger of Sidney, Jean & Dan Freytag of Sidney, Steve & Carrie Larger of Piqua, Karen & Gary Harkey of Columbus, Mary Gilardi of Lake Mary, Florida, and Jeff & Theresa Larger of San Diego, CA. along with 15 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a brother-in-law, Richard & Marilyn Larger of Minster. Shirley always considered everyone from Fort Loramie part of her extended family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Lee Larger; three siblings and their spouses: Mildred & Dale Tangeman, Charles & Mildred Hein and Jerry & Fay Hein as well as two sisters-in-law and their spouses, Norma & Tom Tompkins and Georgianna & Ivo Hoying.
Shirley graduated from Coldwater High School in 1953. She went on to become a registered technologist at the Good Samaritan Hospital School of Medicine in Dayton. She later retired from Wilson Health Hospital where she worked as an X-ray technologist. Shirley treated all of her patients with kindness and a warm blanket.
A devoted member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Fort Loramie, Shirley was active in many church and community organizations throughout Fort Loramie and Shelby County. She was especially proud to be a member of the Fort Loramie High School Hall Wall of Honor, 2014.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 23, 2025, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. Stephen Mondiek and Deacon Paul Timmerman presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery.
Family and friends may call Wednesday, 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday, 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
Memorials in Shirley's memory may be made to the Fort Loramie Education Foundation (commfoun.com) or the St. Michael Church Building Fund.
