Clark Froning
Clark Froning, 87, of New Knoxville, Ohio, died 11:23 P.M. Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Wapakoneta Manor.
Clark was born September 22, 1938 in St. Marys, Ohio. Clark was the second child of Raymond H. and Alfrieda J. (Thobe) Froning.
He was a 1956 graduate of New Knoxville High School. He then went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree from Miami University.
In 1960 he married Juli (Hoge) Froning. She survives at home. Other survivors include brother John (Tennessee); son Chuck and wife Kristin (Ann Arbor, Michigan); daughter Ellen and husband John (Louisville, Kentucky); son Tom and wife Laura (Oak Ridge, Tennessee); seven granddaughters and one great grandson; one great-granddaughter.
As a young man, reared in rural Auglaize County, Clark developed a keen interest in agriculture and athletics. Throughout his grade school and high school days he enjoyed working on the farm and experiencing all aspects of rural life. He was an active participant in 4-H and FFA.
Athletically he played summer sand-lot baseball at Armstrong Park and later was a member of high school and collegiate baseball and basketball teams.
He felt he had two distinct careers, both of which entailed associating with and helping people. In 1958 he embarked on a 20 year teaching and coaching career that took him and his family to various communities in Ohio and Indiana. In 1978 he and Juli decided to move back "home" from Indianapolis and he began a new career in the lumber business. For the next 40 years he was employed by Hoge Lumber Company as the human resources manager and dimension lumber buyer.
In retirement Clark enjoyed reading, working in the yard, gardening and attending local high school sporting events, as well as following the activities of his grandchildren. He loved and appreciated his entire family.
Cremation has been chosen and a celebration of life for immediate family will be held.
