* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:40 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 13.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

John Steele
John W. Steele, 65, of Celina, died at 12:20 a.m., Wed. July 23, 2025, surrounded by his family in Wapakoneta. He was born Nov. 1, 1959, in Lima, OH, the son of Vernon L. & Joyce A. (Mobley) Steele, who preceded him in death. In 1990, he married Barbara J. Morgan, who preceded him in death on Nov. 10, 2021.
Survivors include, 5 children, Tiffanie (Chris) Mavis, Wapakoneta, Heather (Andy) Heitkamp, St. Marys, Jackie (Travis) Binkley, Paris, Tennessee, Justene Fletcher, Wapakoneta, Bethany (William) Roberts, Vandalia, 8 grandchildren, Austin, Kirstin (Zach), Weston, Jaidyn, Ryan, Trent, Ashley & Brooke, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Dustin. 14 great grandchildren, Greyson, Madalyn, Jameson, Linkoln, Braxton, Brixton, Maverick, Cambri, Ryker, Karter, Ryder, Zailey, Hazley, & Kalon.
He was preceded in death by a great grandson, Kobe, a brother, Rick Steele, Cridersville, a sister, Donna Williams, Celina, a brother Terry Steele and a sister, Connie Stolzenberg.
John worked as a contractor in construction for many years. Beyond his work, John found great joy in the simple pleasures in life. John had a deep love for music. He found peace and joy in listening to his favorite songs or attending live concerts. In his younger days, he could be found playing the guitar and singing. Music was a part of his soul. Above all, John's heart belonged to his family. Whether it was a family trip, an afternoon walk by the lake or a weekend barbecue, he enjoyed every moment spent with family and those close to him. His favorite place was the Smoky Mountains. His laughter will be deeply missed.
Funeral Services will be 4:00 p.m., Sat. July 26, 2025, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, Wapakoneta.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m., Sat. at the funeral home.
