Karen Niemeyer
Karen Niemeyer, 83, of New Knoxville, Ohio, died 11:32 P.M. Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at St. Ritas Medical Center, Lima, Ohio, after a battle with Parkinson's Disease and finally a massive stroke.
She was born April 8, 1942, the daughter of Leroy and Edith (Duhme) Meckstroth.
On October 23, 1965, she married Larry Niemeyer, who survives in New Knoxville. Karen is survived by a daughter, Kristine (Joseph) Urenovitch of Whitehouse, Ohio, and by her four grandchildren: Joseph, Grant, Grace and Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, James Meckstroth.
Karen graduated from New Knoxville High School in 1960, then on to Columbus Business School. She began her working career as an executive secretary at the former Crown Controls Company. After her daughter was raised, she then worked with New Knoxville bus transportation till retirement in 2007.
Over the years she enjoyed pursuing many collectibles and doing cross stitch needlework.
Many family vacations were enjoyed throughout the United States, Europe and cruised to the Caribbean islands.
As an Ohio State Buckeye fan, a bowl game is usually planned, with the Rose Bowl being the favorite.
A lifelong member of the First Church of New Knoxville, she was also a charter member of the New Knoxville Society, serving on the board for 35 years.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the First Church of New Knoxville, the Reverend Joel Bucklin, officiant. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral rites at the First Church of New Knoxville, where memorial gifts may be given to the New Knoxville Historical Society.
