Thomas Bertke
Thomas V. Bertke, 76, of Celina, OH died 5:09 p.m. Sunday April 13, 2025 at JTDM Hospital in St. Marys, OH. He was born September 14, 1948 in Celina, OH to Ralph and Ellen "Annie" (Wenning) Bertke. On November 18,1976 in Celina, OH he married Kathleen "Katie" Sutter, who survives.
He is also survived by: Son Jeffrey (Holly) Bertke of St. Marys, OH, Daughter Tina Cotterman of Wapakoneta, OH, Son Russell (Heather) Bertke of New Knoxville, OH, Daughter Monica (Jack Earl) Bertke of Ohio City, OH, Son Patrick Bertke of Celina, OH, Daughter Nicole (Trace Glosette) Bertke of Celina, OH, 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, Brother Fred (Gerri) Bertke of New Knoxville, OH, Brother Virgil (Jane) Bertke of St. Marys, OH, Brother Randy (Kim) Bertke of Franklin, NC, Sister Patricia (Ken) Bensman of New Bremen, OH, Sister Bev (John) Froning of Lake City, TN, Sister Karen (Fred dec'd) Schulze of Minster, OH, Sister Joan (Mark) Baumer of Coldwater, OH, Sister Joyce (Pat) Berger of Coldwater, OH, Sister Connie (Eric) Seger of Ft. Loramie, OH, Sister Pam (Jim) Simon of Troy, OH.
He was preceded in death by: Parents Ralph and "Annie" Bertke; daughter Renee (Eric) Jensen; granddaughter Tanner Moonshower; brother Robert (Barbara) Bertke.
He was a graduate of Marion Local High (Class of 1966), where he was valedictorian of his class. He then attended Devry Institute of Chicago, IL.
A skilled tradesman, he worked for Minster Machine Co., CROWN, and Pax Machine Co. In addition, he was the proprietor of Bertke T.V. and Appliance in Celina for many years. Tom also had served as an auxiliary patrolman for Celina Police Department. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles Lodge, both in Celina. His favorite pastimes included traveling, camping with his kids in his younger days, working in his shop (he could fix anything), playing cards. and spending time with his grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will take place 1-4 p.m. on Thursday April 17, 2025 at the Miller - Long & Folk Funeral Home 314 W. High Street in St. Marys.
