Kathryn L. Long, age 85 of Sidney, Ohio (formerly of Anna) died March 29th 2025 at 7:20AM at Carecore Heritage Nursing Home in Minster. She was born on October 16, 1939 in Urbana, Ohio to the late Clyde and Georgia (Roberts) Batton. She married Raymond S. Long on June 20, 1959 in Sidney, Ohio. He preceded her in death on September 28, 1995.
She is survived by three sons; Samuel and Lynette Long, Sidney; Harold and Chris Long, New Bremen; and Nelson Long, Sidney; seven grandchildren, Chantelle Clark, Bryson Long, Ariel Burch, Ashley Meyer, Kelly Ernst, Mercedes Cook, and Maverick Long: fourteen great-grandchildren and one on the way: and sister, Shirley Ritter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; daughter-in-law, Susan Long; infant brother; sister, Nancy Batton; brother and sister-in-law John and Rita Batton.
Kathryn was a graduate of Sidney High School, class of 1959. She was a resident at The Landings assisted living in Sidney for 2 1/2 years. Her first job was working at the Sidney movie theater in the ticket booth where she met her husband, Raymond. Then she took a job at Holloway Sportswear in Jackson Center, and then later in Sidney, where Kathryn retired in 2005 after more than 30 years of service. (She said she entered the workforce to keep her boys in clothing and the sports that they would be in.) She also served on the board of election for over 20 years.
Kathryn loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, and friends. And was very proud of every one of them. She always asked how each one was doing in their dance or their sports activities. She loved going to great-grandchildren's birthday parties, puzzle searches, reading a good book, playing cards with her card club ladies, board games and watching the Hallmark channel. She also loved visits from her nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Pasco United Methodist Church.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at 3 P.M. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home in Sidney, with Pastor Mark Hina officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 to 3 P.M. A private burial will take place at Long Cemetery in Anna.
