Michele Millhouse
Michele Millhouse, 46, of Midland, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at MyMichigan Hospital in Midland unexpectedly after a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 8, 1979, in Piqua, daughter of Tom and Deb Millhouse. Her parents survive in New Bremen.
She married Andrey Soukhojak on Sept. 28, 2004, in New York City. He survives along with their sons, Jeff and Alex, both at home. Also surviving is her brother, Tyler (Kirsten) Millhouse.
Michele was a 1997 graduate of New Bremen High School. She earned a bachelor's degree from Kent State University and an education specialist degree from Lehigh University.
She was a school psychologist with the Clare-Gladwin Regional Education Service District, serving the Gladwin and Harrison school districts. She touched the lives of many children during her career.
She was active in the Michigan and national school psychologist associations. She spearheaded an effort that led to the signing of the Student Mental Health Apprenticeship Program for Retention and Training Act into law by Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in 2022.
Michele was an avid reader and enjoyed participating in a local book club. She loved following the activities of her children and spending time with her family. She enjoyed planning the annual family vacations. Their travels took the family to Europe, Australia and various places in the United States, including Hawaii.
She had the gift of putting people at ease and she made many friends. She loved making other people happy and brightened every single room that she went into with her kindness and wit. Her kind and caring personality will not be forgotten. She will be missed deeply.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Smith-Miner Funeral Home, 2700 W. Wackerly Road, Midland, MI, with the Rev. Bethany Maciejewski officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the American Civil Liberties Union, an organization she passionately supported.
A celebration of life will be held in New Bremen at a later date.
