Edna Reinhard
Edna Anna Frances (Link) Reinhard of Plainfield died February 22, 2025. She was 93 years old. Born at home on October 27, 1931 in Carthagena, Ohio, she was the sixth child of Charles and Anna Wuebker Link. She was baptized on the day of her birth.
Edna graduated from St. Henry High School, for three years following school she was employed by Bruins Brothers Insurance in Celina, Ohio. On August 8, 1953 she married Eugene E. Reinhard (D. May 8, 2012) in Carthagena, Ohio. She worked for St. Elizabeth Hospital in Dayton, Ohio as a payroll clerk for three years before staying at home to raise eight children.
Edna was very active at St. Susanna Parish, serving for years as a eucharistic minister and involved in the Women's Club; She organized the new member welcome dinner, created the greeter program, and was very active in the prison ministry. Gene and Edna were both volunteer workers at St. Vincent De Paul Society. With her friends she visited local nursing homes providing doughnuts and prayers. She was faithful to her morning prayers, most often while exercising on her mini trampoline or spin bike. Edna and Gene walked to mass everyday followed by breakfast with friends. Edna enjoyed riding her red bike around town to church or running errands. She loved baking and often made large batches of bread or yeast rolls to share with friends and neighbors. She learned to play ping pong as a kid on her Mom's kitchen table and she continued to play into her 80s, taking on anyone willing to play. Gene & Edna traveled frequently with their friends. They loved dancing, in particular square dances. She was strong in her faith and joyful in life, and brought smiles to people she met along the way.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann Marie Gehl (Tony), Knoxville, TN; seven sons: Joseph (Jodi), Marion, IL; Mark (Nita), Indianapolis, IN; John (Susan), Woodstock, GA; Philip (Lana) Columbus, IN; Luke, Portland, ME; Gene (Darlene), San Antonio, TX; Matt (Cindy), Indianapolis, IN; one sister Sr Adelaide Link, Cincinnati, OH: 17 Grandchildren, 3 Great-grandchildren, in-laws Phyllis Link and Jerry Reinhard, Ft. Recovery OH; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass was held on February 28th at 10 a.m. in St. Susanna Church in Plainfield. She was buried in Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield, IN.
