Virginia Stone
Virginia Ann Stone, age 82, of Celina, passed away at her home in Highland Park on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
She was born December 14, 1942, in Columbus, to the late Sam and Annabelle (Morgan) Ramondelli. On May 15, 1961, Virginia married the love of her life, Bernie A. Stone, who passed away January 11, 2012.
Surviving are their sons: Bernie (Christy) Stone of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Richard Stone of Celina, grandchildren: Timothy (Karina) Stone, Benjamin (Hannah) Stone, Amanda (Michael) Nedelman, Samantha E. (Sam) Oren, and Alexandria (Sam) Neukom. Virginia was very proud to have 8 great-grandchildren: Trick, Zella, Kennedy, Andrew, Matthew, Julian, Bella and Eli.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Sam Ramondelli.
While living in Columbus, Virginia worked at the General Motors Fisher Guide Plant, until she retired in her 50's. During her time at GM, she became known for the elaborate cakes she made for retirement parties, and was asked to create a wedding cake for the daughter of a co-worker. Virginia then began a 10-year career as an accomplished wedding cake designer and baker, creating many opulent cakes.
After her retirement from the cake business, she and Bernie moved to Grand Lake. They loved the lake life, boating and walking their dog in the neighborhood. They became best of friends with their new neighbors, Judy and John Collins, shortly after their move.
Virginia had dearly loved her life-long partner, Bernie, and was looking forward to reuniting with him. She was a wonderful, loving wife and mother, and a fun and excellent grandmother, who loved spending time with her grandkids.
A Celebration of Life Service is being planned for Virginia, with the timetable to be announced at a later date.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Animal Protection League of Mercer County.
