He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Chrissy Houts (October 19, 2002); a brother, Ronald (Betsy) Houts; a brother-in-law, Vern Balster; and a sister-in-law, Trudy Fisher.
A 1967 graduate of Immaculate Conception Catholic High School, John proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he was wounded in combat and received the Purple Heart. He dedicated over 50 years of service to Goodyear Tire and Rubber in St. Marys and also worked as a school bus driver for Celina City Schools for many years.
John was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina American Legion Post #210, and Celina VFW Post #5713. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards on Wednesday nights at the VFW, and cheering on his grandchildren at their school activities. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family and will be deeply missed by those who loved him.
