Theresa Arkenberg
Theresa Agnes (Richard) Arkenberg, age 95, of Eastview Drive in Fort Loramie, Ohio, passed away peacefully of natural causes at her residence Wednesday evening, January 29, 2025. She was born January 16, 1930, in Russia, Ohio, to the late Leo & Josephine (Watren) Richard. On October 9, 1948, at St. Remy Catholic Church in Russia, Theresa married Bernard "Ben" Arkenberg who preceded her in death on April 22, 2020.
Surviving are four of six children: Linda & James Koverman of Anna, Edward & Annette Arkenberg of Sidney, Gene Arkenberg (dec.) & then fiancée, Pat Coll of Toledo, Joan "Jody" & Ed (dec.) Hartley of Covington, David Arkenberg of Fort Loramie and John Arkenberg (dec.); Eight grandchildren: Michelle & Travis Brunson, Brad & Kasie Koverman, Gene & Katie Arkenberg, Chad Arkenberg & fiancée, Paige Barker, Kelli & Wayne Johnson, Cody & Amanda Arkenberg, Angie & Nick Deeter, Tori & Darrell Hite; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-granddaughters and one brother, Eugene & Dorothy Richard of Versailles along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 12 siblings: Marie & Gene Farrer, Floyd & Toni Richard, Wilma Richard, Cletus & Evelyn Richard, Rita & Ray Fullenkamp, Francis Richard, Leroy & Dorothy Richard, Mary & Pete Ecabert, Robert & Wilma Richard, Paul & Ruth Richard, Florence & Robert Bruns, Rosemary & Thomas Cordonnier and brothers & sisters-in-law: Virgil & Norma Arkenberg, Beatrice Seaman and Marietta Ritz.
Mrs. Arkenberg was a homemaker dedicated to her husband and family. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church where she led the rosary before weekend masses and on October Sundays. She also belonged to St. Ann's Ladies Sodality, Apostleship of Prayer Promoters and Schoenstatt of Ohio (in honor of Mary, Mother, Queen & Victress of Schoenstatt). Theresa enjoyed making rosaries and fishing. She especially enjoyed Florida fishing trips with Ben and her family.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. John W. Tonkin presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
Family and friends may call Tuesday, 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Wednesday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
