Mike was born on June 25, 1944, in Celina, to the late Hugo and Hilma (Joly) Feltz. He is survived by his siblings: Joseph (Arlene) Feltz of Massachusetts, Louis (Arlene) Feltz of New Mexico, Pat Meikle of Celina, Judy DuVall of Washington, and Mary Holloway of Tennessee; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Fr. Thomas Feltz, and three brothers-in-law: Richard Bruns, Bill Meikle, and Gary DuVall.
Mike graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Celina in 1962. He began his educational journey at Brunnerdale Seminary in North Canton, Ohio, where he completed his freshman and sophomore years. He then studied for two years at Notre Dame in Indiana and graduated from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas, with a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1978, he earned an MBA in Business from Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. Later, Mike attended Syracuse University in New York, where he learned to speak Russian in just nine months.
Mike proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968 during the Vietnam era, where he worked as a radio interceptor specializing in Russian communications, supported by the GI Bill.
His professional career spanned many years in the insurance industry. He began in Waco, Texas, working for a small insurance company before moving to Corpus Christi, Texas, where he worked as an administrator for Sid Murray Insurance Company for eight years. Mike spent the final 16 years of his career with New York Mutual in New York, serving as an administrator and earning certifications including CLU, CHE, and FLMI. He retired in 2000 and returned to his hometown of Celina to enjoy his well-deserved retirement.
A devout Catholic, Mike was a dedicated member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina. He served faithfully as an usher, lector, and adult server. Throughout his life, Mike was also active in several organizations, including serving as President of the Corpus Christi Jaycees and participating in Toastmasters Clubs in Corpus Christi, New York, and Westchester, New York.
In retirement, Mike fully embraced life, visiting 34 national parks and 47 of the 50 states, often accompanied by his college classmate and friend, Mike Rangel. He pursued a variety of hobbies, including astronomy, photography, spelunking, and baking. Each Christmas, he shared joy with family and friends by baking and distributing 3,000 cookies.
