Carolyn Miller
Carolyn S. "Carol" Miller, 73, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 9:05 a.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Mercy Health-St. Rita's, Lima.
She was born on October 24, 1950 in Celina, to Carl D. and Freda M. (Place) Burch who have preceded her in death. On August 28, 1996, she married A. Scott Miller, who survives in Wapakoneta.
Survivors also include her three children, Greg (Mari) Golden, of Lima, David Golden, of Wapakoneta, and Kimberly (Brian) Roelle, of Fostoria; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, with two more on-the-way; two sisters, Wanda Huey, of Port Clinton and Donna (Hank) Hembree, of Mendon; and her canine companion, Mollie.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Burch; and a grandson, Hutch Lee.
A 1970 graduate of Celina High School, Carol had worked for Mersman Table in Celina, Ohio Decorative in Spencerville, and in Guest Services at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
To say Carol loved being in her kitchen, would be an understatement. There she was truly in her element, with baking as her specialty. Although she may be most remembered for her pies, Christmas goodies, and noodles, she loved making anything that could be shared with family and friends at get-togethers. For many years she would enter her baked goods in the Auglaize County Fair, her apple pies at the Johnny Appleseed Apple Festival, and even tried a chili cookoff once.
On the chance Carol wasn't baking, she could be found in her garden. There she loved tending her tomatoes and flowers, especially the irises and roses. Some of her blooms were also featured at the fair. She enjoyed the company of ladybugs and could spend many evening hours watching hummingbirds at her many feeders.
Family was incredibly important to Carol. She loved any time spent together, whether it was just her kids and grandkids, or contributing to the large family reunions. It was important to her to be present for them, making it to extra-curricular events, graduations, and even holding her hours-old great-granddaughter the day before she passed.
Carol also treated her neighbors as family and took care of them. She tended to two area "Blessing Boxes" and would be more than willing to feed those in need from her own pantry. Even animals had a special place in her heart, as there was also a family dog (or more) and chickens and ducks while her kids were growing up.
Memorial services will begin at 12:00 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2024 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta. Pastor Tony Shaw will officiate.
Family and friends may gather from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home. Interment of her cremated remains will take place in Swamp College Cemetery, Celina, at a later date.
