Jospeh Drayton
Joseph R. Drayton, Sr, known to many as the Tire Man, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at the age of 59 in Rockford, OH.
He was born on May 3, 1965, in Toledo, to his late parents, Charles E. Drayton and Mary E. (Drake) Layman.
Joseph was a talented mechanic whose love for cars and trucks was evident in everything he did. From playing baseball in high school to being the president of the Future Farmers of America, Joseph always had a passion for hands-on work.
Joseph worked for many years at Easter Tire, which later became Best One Tire, where he built a reputation for his expertise in tire sales and service. He was known for his playful nature and was always up for some fun. Outside of work, he enjoyed tinkering with cars, building derby cars, and especially loved working on his Chevy trucks.
He is survived by his daughter, Brittany Cousino of Saint Marys; sons: Joseph "Joey" Drayton Jr of Rockford; Chad Drayton of St. Marys; Douglas Fonner of Rockford; sisters: Loretta Martin and Becky Drayton of Toledo; brother Steve (Jenny) Drayton of Colorado; mother of his children, Karen Fonner of Rockford as well as 6 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his step father, Glen Layman; grandparents: Margaret Drayton, Harley and Nola Drake; and brother-in-law Rick Villanueva.
A Graveside Service will be held at Mendon Cemetery on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 2:30 pm.
Prior to the service, family and friends may pay their respects during the visitation from 12 to 2 pm on Thursday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, 111 W First Street, Rockford, OH 45882.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the family for final expenses.
