Eugene Reed
Eugene W. Reed, 89, of Saint Marys, and formerly of San Diego, California, died 5:15 P.M. Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 16, 1934, in Auglaize County, Ohio, the son of Walter and Viola (Warner) Reed. He married Celia Counts on April 14, 1974; she preceded him in death on August 16, 2016.
He is survived by his siblings: Bill (Vicki) Reed of Pataskala, Ohio; Connie (Ed) Hoenie of Saint Marys; by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Gene attended Saint Marys Memorial High School and had worked at Goodyear Saint Marys and Bob Hirschfeld Construction Company. He then joined the US Navy and retired from the Navy after 20 years of service. He loved music and dancing and served in the US Navy Band as a trumpet player. He also enjoyed traveling.
Private family funeral rites will be held at Gethsemane Cemetery.
