Fire leaves home badly damaged

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP - A one-story ranch home was badly damaged during a midnight inferno but a couple and their two dogs managed to escape unharmed.
The Celina Fire Department received a call of a fire at 2104 State Route 703 at 12:06 a.m. Tuesday, according to fire chief Joel Lange. [More]

  CELINA - The Celina Police Department plans to send out extra officers and close Lake Shore Drive on April 8 in an effort to protect the public as much as possible amid the total solar eclipse.
Mercer County's population is projected to double on April 8 with the arrival of stargazers from across the country. City officials worry the visitors may snarl traffic, raising the risk of accidents and significant delays for locals. [More]

CELINA - Lake Facilities Authority has landed another state grant that will bankroll nearly 75% of a 16.5-acre land acquisition near Grand Lake St. Marys State Park.
MENDON - The longtime owner of a motorcycle shop and other buildings in downtown Mendon expressed exasperation at the stunted state of the village at Tuesday night's regular council meeting.
CELINA- A St. Marys man was sentenced on Tuesday to nearly two years in prison on escape and drug possession charges in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.
ST. HENRY - Village councilors at this week's regular meeting reviewed a lease agreement with a Kentucky weather radar company looking to install a radar system in St. Henry.
Ohio's unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.7% but area counties saw an uptick in joblessness in February.
