Bernard graduated from Coldwater High School with the class of 1963. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina and the Knights of Columbus Council #1800. He retired from Goodyear in St. Marys after 40 years of service. Barney had a huge heart and loved many people. He was always busy with his many hobbies. Summer times were all about gardening, tending to his yard that he has always been so proud of or watching the Cincinnati Reds. In between he was either playing cards, making waffles or at an auction. When winter came around it was all about decorating for Christmas, cheering for the Cleveland Browns, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Celina Bulldogs. Everyday all day he was taking care of his wife whom he would be celebrating 60 years of marriage with in June. Spoiling his grandkids and his dachshund Holly, who will dearly miss him.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Fr. John Tonkin officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
Friends and family may call from 3-8 p.m. on Friday, March 22, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Lehman Dzendzel Funeral Home. All who attend are invited to dress casually in honor of Barney.
The family would like to send "thank yous" to the following people or organizations for everything they contributed to helping Barney on this journey; Mickaela Pierce, Miranda Fenning, St. Ritas Medical Staff, EverHeart Hospice, and everyone else that stopped to visit and prayed.
