Mary Ellen Fortman
Mary Ellen Fortman, age 85 of Minster, Ohio, died on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at her home in Minster.
She was born on September 8, 1938, in Minster, Ohio, to the late Joseph & Eleanor (Dwenger) Stueve. On November 26, 1959 she married Richard Fortman in St. Augustine Church of Minster, and he survives in Minster.
She is also survived by children Ann and Joseph Gross, Beavercreek, and Matt and Sarah Fortman; seven grandchildren: Morgan Gross and Josh Gayman, Michael and Libby Gross, Benjamin Gross, Nicholas Gross, Timothy Gross, Micah Fortman amd Layla Fortman; great granddaughter Eleanora; sister: Marge and Tom Schwieterman, Burkettsville; in-laws JoAnn Stueve, Minster; Mary C. Stueve, Minster; Larry Fortman, Charlotte; Robert & Linda Fortman, Dallas; Doris Sheipline, Sterling, Ohio; and Jeanette Fortman, Northfield, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by brothers Bob Stueve, Ben Stueve, sister Rosie and Stan Quellhorst; in-laws William Fortman and Joan Fortman.
She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, women's choir, Mission Commission, and a lay distributor for the homebound and nursing homes. She was a graduate of Minster High School and worked as a receptionist for Dr. Quinter. She was a member of the Red Hats, loved playing cards in many different groups and line dancing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster with burial to follow in St. Augustine Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 3 to 7 p.m. and on Friday, January 19 from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Augustine Mission Commission.
