Greg Lane age 67 of Kalispell, MT passed away peacefully at his home in Celina, OH on Nov. 19, 2023.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents Kernie and Bertha 'Carol' (Dolson) and his sister Julie (Lane) Corbett.

He will be forever missed by his surviving family members, which include his loving wife of 15 yeas Sandra 'DeeDee' (Heitz); stepchildren Ty Shelby (Christine) of Celina, OH and Erin Shelby (Jim) of Howell, MI; sisters Lorrie 'Susan' and Leslie 'Gayle' of Kalispell, MT; nephews Lincoln (Shelley) Reed, Adam Christman (Samantha), and Pat Corbett; nieces Lara Reed and Colleen Corbett; grandchildren Ethan, Nathan, Ella, Olivia 'Livi', Alex, and Misty; and 2 great grandchildren.

He attended Flathead High School and Montana State University where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering. He started his career in 1979 with Morrison-Knudsen as an Associate Engineer and continued working for the firm until his passing. He was a strong, dependable, and constant team member as the company evolved to become today's United Engineers & Constructors, Inc (UECI).

During his 44-year tenure with UECI, Greg worked as part of a team of engineers, builders, and planners to provide critical infrastructure solutions for clients that included Boeing, Tennessee Valley Authority, Florida Power & Light, Wisconsin Public Service, and DTE. He loved his work, and it is a big part of his legacy because his work improved the lives of millions of people who now benefit from having dependable electric power.
  Despite his exceptional 6'6" height, Greg was never a flashy guy, except on Fridays when he chose a Hawaiian shirt from his extensive collection to wear. He was also a fearless home cook and baker who showed his love through food. With help (and some friendly competition) from his wife DeeDee, dinners at the Lane's was always something to look forward to. Greg's cooking wasn't just about food. It was also about creating long-lasting memories, whether by making pasta from scratch with his granddaughters, impressively serving a shrimp boil for Christmas dinner on newspaper (the traditional way) or baking the best cinnamon rolls any of us will ever taste.

When not cooking or working, Greg enjoyed golfing, reading thriller novels, watching sports, rooting for local teams, and playing fantasy football. He was also an avid Jeopardy! fan who knew a wide range of the answers. If you played trivia, you'd always want Greg on your team.

Always a quiet man, Greg liked being with friends and family and was a highly engaged listener, except when delivering some of the best one-liners ever.

In lieu of a funeral as Greg said he "didn't have a single thing to wear," his family will host a celebration of life party in early 2024.

Instead of flowers or gifts, memorial donations to EverHeart Hospice in Greenville, OH are encouraged and appreciated.
