Delphos St. John's running back stiff-arms Marion Local's Greg Schwieterman in the 2009 Division VI state semifinals, in which the Blue Jays beat the Flyers in overtime to advance to the state championship game. Leininger switched to quarterback in 2010 and led St. John's to an undefeated season and a state title, its sixth in 14 years.
