He was born on October 13, 1931 in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of the late Reuben H. & Eleanor L. (Purpus) Dickman. On August 9, 1952, he married Jean Ann Dicke, and she died on June 1, 2018.
He is survived by his sons: Dave (Barbara) Dickman of Newburyport, Mass., Mike (Becky) Dickman of Hilliard, Ohio, and Jim (Krista) Dickman of Coldwater. Chuck was a 1949 graduate of New Bremen High School, and went on to graduate from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1954. He had served in the U.S. Army as an optometrist from 1954-1956 before returning to the area, and opening his own optometry practice in Coldwater, where he served the wider community for over 40 years. After his retirement, he enjoyed several years of living at Ridgewood Lakes in Davenport, Florida. He was a former member of the Coldwater Methodist Church as well as the Mercer County Elks Lodge 2170. In his free time, Chuck loved to golf and fish, and he especially enjoyed singing with the Soundwaves Barbershop Chorus.
