Jannis Osterloh
Jannis Rowena Fisher Osterloh, age 86, of Celina, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023, at Tranquility of Rockford.
She was born September 10, 1937, in Mercer County, to the late Dwight K. & Minnie F. (Brehm) Laffin. Jannis married Dale Eugene Fisher on August 13, 1955, and he preceded her in death December 4, 1988. Then on September 9, 1998, she was united in marriage with Daniel Osterloh.
Dan survives, along with her children: Debra (Duane) Sheets of Celina and Rodney (Barbara) Fisher of Louisville, KY, sisters: Cinda (Bob) Cook and Trude Laffin of Celina, grandchildren: Melissa Saloc, Rodney Fisher II, and Catina "Tina" Fields, and great grandchildren: Patton, Hector, Mizael, Elinzondro, Emmitt, Heather, Ashley, and Tyler. Also surviving are sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Pamela Laffin of Celina, Gloria Laffin of Rockford, Mary Bruce of Raleigh, NC, Joan Fox, Dorothy (Pat) Trisel, and Gloria Fisher of Rockford, and Ruth (Tim) Bennett of Antwerp.
She was preceded in death by her brothers: Darryl "Doc" Laffin and Dennis Laffin, a granddaughter, Alicia Fisher, and brothers-in-law: Don Fisher, Ron Bruce, and Pat Fox.
Jannis was a 1955 graduate of Celina High School. While in high school, she enjoyed playing in the band and singing in the choir. Jannis had a wonderful voice, which she shared performing at weddings and funerals in the area. After graduation, Jannis worked with her father, Dwight Laffin, the Clerk of Courts, in his office at the Mercer County Court House. Always a people person, Jannis enjoyed working as a cashier at Rankin's Store, Harts Family Center, and lastly Walmart, where she retired after many years of service. She was a life-long member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, now known as St. Paul's Country Church of Rockford. Jannis enjoyed traveling with her family, and watching her favorite game shows, The Price is Right and Let's Make A Deal. She also liked to cook, with Grandma's Famous Fruit Salad and Divinity Fudge being her specialties.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 10, at St. Paul's Country Church of Rockford, 1538 Oregon Rd., Rockford, with Pastor Michael Husted, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Country Church Cemetery.
Calling Hours are 3:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, November 9, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, and at the church on Friday prior to the Service, from 10:00-11:00 AM.
