Martha May
Martha May, 92, of St. Marys, died Sunday, July 23, 2023, at her residence.
She was born September 29, 1931, in New Bremen, Ohio, the daughter of Edgar and Olga (Hegemier) Moeller. She married James May on February 9, 1952; he preceded her in death on February 26, 2018.
She is survived by her children: Gayle (Jim) Nagel of New Bremen; Kyle (Janet) May of Columbia Station, Ohio; Lori (Eric) Now of St. Marys. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, and by her sister, Dorothy Sunderland of Van Wert.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her siblings Adrian Moeller and Warren Moeller, and by two great-grandsons.
Martha was a 1949 graduate of New Bremen High School. She retired from Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in 1992, where she worked in the housekeeping department. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in St. Marys, where she had been active in the Women's Guild and the Mother's Study Club. She was a member of the Swinging Seniors Dance Club, and she taught line dancing at the Auglaize County Council on Aging from 1995-2016. She was named Outstanding Volunteer by the Council on Aging in 1997. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies and the Daughters of the Nile at the Azicah Temple in Dayton. Martha loved dark chocolate and had a real sweet tooth!
Funeral rites will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, July 28, 2023, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in St. Marys, the Reverend Rhonda Hainer, officiant. Burial rites will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-7 P.M. at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, St. Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to the St. Paul's United Church of Christ Organ Fund.
