Auglaize to divide $1.2M

WAPAKONETA - Auglaize County commissioners on Thursday announced $1.2 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds will flow to numerous organizations.
Commissioners rebranded ARPA as Auglaize Development Funds. The county government received two installments of ARPA funds totaling $8.86 million.
The Grand Lake Health and Premier Health South YMCA in Minster was awarded $225,000 for a new recreational building. The $2.5 million facility is projected to be 11,000 square feet and will have two basketball courts with the ability to have volleyball, pickleball and potentially indoor baseball.
The Crossroads of Northwest Ohio, a 250-acre development featuring hotels, restaurants and shopping along I-75 in northern Auglaize County, received a total of $500,000 for a roadway to the development's medical park. They had requested a total of $2.5 million for roadway projects and traffic studies.
Other organizations and agencies who received funds include,
• Auglaize County Health Department, $25,000 for county community health assessment. A request for a $70,000 flooring replacement was not funded.
• Wapakoneta YMCA, $225,000 for a new Child Development Center.
• Auglaize ESC, $40,000 for HVAC renovations.
• Roughrider Philanthropic Organization, $50,000 for handicap parking for the Roughrider Athletic Complex.
• Auglaize County Sheriff's Auxiliary, $50,000 for a cruiser, uniforms and equipment.
• Armstrong Air and Space Museum, $40,000 for lobby and gift shop remodeling.
• Grand Lake Region Visitors Center, $10,000 for an educational eagle's nest structure projected to cost $12,000-$13,000.
• New Beginnings Learning Academy, $15,000 for a playground expansion.
• St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, $50,000 for asbestos abatement.
• Cridersville Volunteer Fire Department, $50,000 for a new ambulance.
