Donald Ralston
Donald L. Ralston, 90, formerly of Rockford, passed away peacefully in the early morning at St. Clair Healthcare in Moorehead, Ky., on Jan. 9th 2023 after a short illness.
He lived in Wellington, Ky., with his wife Cecilia and step-daughter Cathy. He enjoy the rolling countryside and going on walks with his dog Buddy. Don was a farmer since he was a child and always was one. He enjoyed farm life whether it was on his farm or working on someone else's.
From a young age he was around horses, but his main love was harness racing. His father George was part owner in a very successful harness horse, Wild Wood Bill. He owned the horse with Ervin Samples who was a very successful harness race driver.
Don was a Cincinnati Reds fan. Most of all he loved people and talking, then talking some more, and talking some more. He never knew a stranger. Don was an Army veteran of the Korean War, which produced some interesting stories. He wanted to live to be 100 years old but life is not predictable.
He is survived by his children Scott and wife Jennifer, son David, daughter Rhonda Lenart and husband Larry, and daughter Melissa and husband Bryan. His grandchildren Chad, Kayla, Shane, Abigayl, and Samantha Ralston, and Reid and Brendan Etzcorn and 10 great grandchildren. Also one sister Juanita Shaw of Jackson Mich.
Deceased are his father and mother George and Marie, his sister Norma Putman, two grandchildren Joshua and Cory Ralston and a step-grandchild Christine.
A celebration of life will be observed sometime in the future.
