Margaret Hanover
Margaret I. Hanover, 93, of Saint Marys, died 10:55 P.M. Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 27, 1929, in Sycamore, Ohio, the daughter of Paul and Mary (Brown) Walton. She married Reverend Marion Hanover on December 19, 1948 in Lima; he preceded her in death on April 29, 2001.
She is survived by her children: Thomas (Cathy) Hanover of Delaware, Ohio; Timothy (Cynthia) Hanover of Saint Marys; Michael (Nancy) Hanover of Mayfield, Kentucky; Tina (Mark) Basinger of Ottawa, Ohio. She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Donna Hanover of Rockford.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her siblings: Frances Shaffer; Dorothy Courtad; Wayne Walton; Paul Walton; Pauline Powell; Stanley Walton; Betty Stanley; by a son, Mark Hanover.
Margaret was a 1947 graduate of Sycamore High School and a 1968 graduate of Bluffton University. She was a pastor's wife and a mother for many years and then taught 5th grade for 21 years for the McComb, Ohio City, and Hardin Northern School Districts.
She was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church and served as a district officer for the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed cooking and serving on the funeral luncheon committee at church.
Funeral rites will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Wayne Street United Methodist Church, Saint Marys, Reverend Tim Benjamin and Reverend Dave Chivington., officiants. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 12:00 noon until the time of services on Thursday at the church, where memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be given to the Mission Fund of the Wayne Street United Methodist Church.
