James Hagan
James MacArthur Hagan, 79, of St. Marys, died 11:11 A.M. Monday, August 29, 2022, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
He was born November 14, 1942, in Belmont County, Ohio, the son of Mansel and Catherine (Gallagher) Hagan.
He is survived by his brothers: Mansel "Paul" Hagan of Huber Heights, Ohio; Sam Hagan of Fostoria, Ohio; Brad Hagan of Middletown, Ohio; Tom Hagan of Englewood, Ohio; his sister, Rebecca Casto of Hurricane, West Virginia. He is also survived by his niece Kaitlin Hagan of Englewood; by nephews Tyler Hagan of Englewood and Mark (Jodi) Hagan of St. Marys. He is also survived by special friends Beth & Craig Olberding, Lesia & Kurt Arnett, Kenny & Shirley Dammeyer & Ann Dammeyer.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
During his 12 years of school, Jim went to 10 different schools in Ohio. In 1958 he ended up in New Knoxville, where he graduated in 1960. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He saw no combat duty because the US was between wars: Korea and Vietnam. Jim saw all his combat on the homefront in bars.
After his discharge in 1964, he went to work as a heavy equipment operator. After 10 years he quit and bummed around for another 10 years, bartending and other odd jobs. In 1985 he got a job driving truck for Parker-Hannifin, where he retired in 2010. Jim was very fortunate and made some great friends in his lifetime and will miss them greatly. He is hoping to be with them in spirit at a celebration of his life; no sympathy is required, just a good time.
Private family burial rites will be held at the Fountain Cemetery in Fostoria, Ohio.
Condolences may be sent to his family via Millerfuneralhomes.net.
