Evelyn Geise
Evelyn Rose (Schwieterman) Geise, age 97, of Coldwater, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, June 11, 2022.
She was born December 21, 1924 in Mercer County, Ohio to Constant & Rose Mary (Will) Schwieterman. On November 24, 1945, she married her husband of 57 years Robert Geise, son of Henry and Elizabeth (Geier) Geise, who preceded her in death on December 17, 2002.
She will be missed dearly by her children Jerry & Linda Geise of Sterling Heights, Michigan; Larry & Pat Geise of Celina; Mindy & Jim McCormick of Alexandria, Virginia; as well as her ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren Mike & Julie, Owen and Adam Geise; Christy & Steve, Reghan and Hannah Haley; Matt & Ramie, Parker, Addison, Carter, and Kenzie Jo Geise; Michelle & Doug, Andrew, Brooklynn, Mallory, Natalie, and Nora Leist; Marc & Linda, Marco, and Mia Geise; Matt & Brenna, Beckett and Clara Geise; Brian & Kristen, Brynn, Bradley, and Benson Geise; Robert McCormick, Michael McCormick, and Steven McCormick.
Evelyn is the last surviving and oldest member of her generation in the Schwieterman and Geise families. She is preceded in death by siblings Luella & Andy Luthman, Harold & Ruth Schwieterman, Edgar & Helen Schwieterman and in-laws Loretta & Elmer Schulze, Arthur & Cecelia Geise, Alfred & Catherine Geise, Esther & Delbert Smith, Viola & Woodrow Sitzman, Elmer & Nothburga Geise, Mildred & Lester Kinninger, Martha & Wilbur Thobe, Charles & Ruth Geise and step-sisters Mary Jane Knapke, Josie Knapke, and their husband Robert Knapke.
Evelyn was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater and St. Ann's Altar Sodality. She was especially dedicated to praying the rosary daily for her family and many other special intentions. Her life revolved around her family and faith.
Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. From a very young age she devoted herself to caring for her siblings and family members. She took great pleasure in gardening and appreciated beautiful flowers, fruits, and vegetables. An excellent seamstress, she sewed many clothing keepsakes. Everyone especially enjoyed her cooking and baking with oatmeal cookies as a popular family favorite. Evelyn had a talent for creativity and crafts making many gifts for her family. Her crocheted afghans and other personalized gifts brought joy to family members and friends. She enjoyed family time, playing cards, and truly loved caring for her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her devotion to her husband and family, deep faith, strong work ethic, kindness, and generosity.
Mass of Christian Burial will be begin at 10:30 am on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Coldwater, Ohio with Fr. Richard Walling presiding. The Mass will be livestreamed at https://www.coldwatercluster.org/information/watch-mass-online. Burial will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Coldwater.
Friends and relatives may call from 4 to 7 pm Friday, June 17 and 9-10 am Saturday, June 18 at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Church.
