* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:40 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 13.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

Steve Schmidt
Steve "Smitty" Schmidt, 72, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 5:42 p.m., Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Lima Memorial Health System after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born on July 6, 1949 in Evansville, IN to Roger and Martha (Scherretz) Schmidt who preceded him in death. On August 11, 2006 he married Brenda Wolverton and she survives in Wapakoneta.
Survivors include 8 children Shauna, Tonya, Stephanie, Chasity, Cory, Shannon, Casey, Garrett; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 3 brothers Roger, Brian and Bill Schmidt and a mother-in-law, Betty.
Steve was preceded in death by his wife Crystal and a brother, Gary Schmidt.
Steve served in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He enjoyed golfing, playing guitar, watching sports and spoiling his dogs. He generously started a Blessing Box and always gave to those in need. Most of all he loved to make people smile.
Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Lynda Lockwood officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery with military rites being performed by the V.F.W. Post 8445.
Family and friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Mercy Unlimited in the form of canned goods or a monetary donations.
