* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:40 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 13.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

Dennis Laffin
Dennis Leon Laffin, age 77, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022, at his rural Rockford home.  
Born March 30, 1945, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Dwight & Minnie (Brehm) Laffin.
His wife of 58 years, Gloria (Fickert) Laffin, survives, along with their daughters: Dawn (Doug) Marvel of Indianapolis, Ind., and Diana (Gene) Hynde of Muskegon, Mich., four grandchildren: Ashley (Ethan) Miller, Toby Marvel (fiancée Laura Fawzi) Blaine Hynde, and Kennedy Hynde, and a great grandchild, Maddox Miller.
Also surviving are his sisters: Jannis (Dan) Osterloh, Cinda (Bob) Cook, and Trude Laffin, all of Celina, and his brother and sisters-in-law: Wayne (Sally) Fickert of Rockford and Pamela Laffin of Celina.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Darryl "Doc" Laffin.
A veteran of the United States Army, Dennis served with the Big Red 1 in the Vietnam War. After attending Celina High School, Dennis was a lifelong farmer, and worked for 22 years at General Electric in Decatur.
Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchild, and loved following their sporting events and activities.
Dennis was also an avid hunter and fisherman all of his life. He was a lifelong member of the former St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Rockford, where he served the church in many various roles.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 28, at St. Paul's Country Church of Rockford, 1538 Oregon Road, Rockford. Pastor Douglas Meyer is officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling Hours are 3:00-7:00 PM, Friday, May 27, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, and 10:00-11:00 AM on Saturday, at the church.
Memorial Contributions may be made to EverHeart Hospice or St. Paul's Country Church of Rockford.
