3 charged in Auglaize Co. murder

County FSA chief among those involved

By William Kincaid
WAPAKONETA - An Auglaize County official and two others were charged with aggravated murder in the death of a 36-year-old man whose body reportedly was located in rural Auglaize County.
Anita Green, 61, executive director of the Auglaize County Farm Service Agency, Wapakoneta; Amanda Hovanec, 35, Wapakoneta; and Anthony Theodoru, 33, South Africa, were all charged with aggravated murder in connection with the death of Timothy Hovanec, who last resided in Herndon, Virginia, according to an Auglaize County Sheriff's Office news release on Thursday.
Timothy Hovanec reportedly was in the Auglaize County area on family business when he was reported missing to the Wapakoneta Police Department on Tuesday. An investigation into his whereabouts led detectives to locate his body in a rural area of Auglaize County, according to the release.
The three arrested are incarcerated at the Auglaize County jail on $2 million bonds each. No other details were released.
Bond hearings are set for Monday in Auglaize County Municipal Court, 11 a.m. for Amanda Hovanec and 11:30 a.m. for Green, court records show. No records could be found for Theodoru.
The court on Thursday found probable cause to issue warrants against Amanda Hovanec and Green, documents show. The two appeared Thursday before the court via video while at the jail and were explained the nature of the charge against them, potential penalties and their rights to remain silent, to a trial and to counsel and available pleas and their meanings. Court records indicate Hovanec and Green would retain attorneys.
Assisting with the investigation are Wapakoneta Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Auglaize County Prosecutor's Office, Auglaize County Coroner's Office, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Auglaize County Dog Warden and the Grand Lake Task Force, the release states.
Timothy and Amanda Hovanec were involved in a divorce case with children in Auglaize County Common Pleas Court, court records show. A contempt and final hearing had been scheduled for Monday.
