Kenneth Prenger
Kenneth A. Prenger, Age 75, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Elmwood Assisted Living, New Bremen.
Born February 10, 1946, in Minster, Ohio, Ken was the eighth of Edward and Catherine (Homan) Prenger's nine children. He grew up on the family farm, where he learned the value of hard work and the importance of faith.
Ken's greatest love was his wife of over 51 years. On October 9, 1968, Ken and Diane Meyer, were married and she preceded him in death on August 29, 2020. Surviving are children: Doug and Holly Prenger of Minster, Tina and Gary Albers of Ft. Loramie, Kendra and David Penno of Coldwater, and Krista and Matt Beyke of St. Henry; 11 grandchildren: Xavier and Maverick Prenger; Meagan (Aaron) Dietz, Alexis (Anna) Sharp; Rachel, Brandon, and Alex Penno and Luke, Grace, Will, and AJ Beyke; two great grandchildren: Alice and Baby Dietz (due this month).
Also surviving are his siblings and in-laws: Lorena and Norman Bohman of Maria Stein, Jeanne Prenger of Minster, Carol and Frank Hoehnie of Sidney, Al and Mary Prenger of Minster, and Tom and Donna Prenger of Grove City. In-laws: Ken and Mary Lou Meyer, Tom and Barb Meyer, Denny and Jane Meyer, Bonnie and Nick Hoying, Rick and Sandy Meyer, Nancy and Kyle Plattner all of Ft. Loramie, Marlene and Ernie Bergman of North Star, Karen and Mike Clawson of Boynton Beach, FL, Jeanne and Wendall Arthur of Newark, Lisa and Steve Gehret of Houston, and Dave and Liz Meyer of Russia.
He was preceded in death by wife, Diane; infant daughter Ashley; siblings and in-laws, Norma & Leo O'Reilly, Wilfred Prenger, Bob & Doris Prenger, Edward Prenger, Marilyn & Ralph May, and Curt Subler.
Ken was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. Ken served in the Army National Guard of Ohio, was a member of the American Legion Post #387, and of the Minster K of C #2158. His most beloved career was as a farmer.
After 25 years, he retired from the Dannon Co. and had previously worked at New Idea and Minster Machine. Ken was quick to smile and kind to everyone. Never one to complain, Ken selflessly and lovingly cared for his wife with Alzheimer's disease even while battling his own Parkinson's diagnosis.
A special thanks to the many caregivers and family who helped during this journey. Your compassionate care and support is treasured.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 am on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Augustine cemetery.
Per the family's request, Ken and Diane's immediate and extended families are invited to a private viewing on Wednesday, January 12 at 5 pm at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials can be made to the Center for Neurological Development, 78 Main St., Burkettsville, OH 45310. Condolences may be expressed at hogenkampfh.com.
