Board rejects recall

CELINA - Mercer County Board of Elections members on Tuesday struck down an effort to recall four Celina City Council members who last month voted against legislation that would have outlawed abortion in Celina.
Adhering to the opinion of county assistant prosector Andy Hinders, board members unanimously moved to reject petitions and deny access to the ballot a recall of council members June Scott, Mike Sovinski, Myron Buxton and Eric Lochtefeld. [More]
Parkway holds on to defeat Celina

ROCKFORD - During Parkway's six-game losing streak, the Panthers have led in a number of games but were unable to hold on for the win.
Tuesday night against Celina, the Panthers saw a double-digit lead dwindle to six in the final three minutes. This time, Parkway held tough and ended the game on an 8-0 run to defeat the Bulldogs 47-33 at Panther Gymnasium, snapping the Panthers' skid and extending Celina's to four straight. [More]

CELINA - Mercer County commissioners on Tuesday took the first of two steps necessary to put a new five-year, 0.55-mill county health district operating levy on the May 3 primary election ballot.
Auglaize County improves from 30th to sixth lowest in state
Mercer County's unemployment rate for November improved to 2.2%, down from October's rate of 2.8%.
The county also improved its status from fourth lowest for joblessness among Ohio's 88 counties to third lowest, according to an Ohio Department of Job and Family Services news release.
FORT RECOVERY - Down seven points early in the fourth, Fort Recovery battled back, but the Indians never retook the lead.
