Celina's Murlin racks up awards at Siena Heights

The postseason honors stacked up for Siena Heights junior linebacker Kole Murlin.

The Celina High School graduate, who earned the Mid-States Football Association's Mideast League Defensive Player of the Year in November, was named a second team All-American in NAIA by the American Football Coaches Association on Monday afternoon.

Murlin, who was also the Mideast League Defensive Player of the Year in 2020, led the Saints with 112 tackles. His 12.4 tackles per game average ranks third in NAIA. Murlin also had 2 1/2 sacks, nine tackles for loss, eight pass breakups and a fumble recovery for the Saints as they went 5-5 and 4-3 in the MSFA Mideast.
Fisher earns Heartland honors

Mount Saint Joseph senior Julius Fisher (St. Marys) earned second team All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honors this past season. It's the third time the conference bestowed honors on the linebacker.

Fisher recorded 68 tackles, two sacks and an interception for the Lions, who went 6-4 and 5-2 in the HCAC.

Wolf among leaders
for Redhawks

Miami University is 4-3 out the gate heading into Wednesday's midday game with Western Kentucky. The Redhawks defeated Eastern Kentucky on Sunday for their first two-game winning streak of the young season.

Freshman Ivy Wolf (Minster) led Miami with 16 points and six assists in the win over EKU. The game raised her season average to 11.9 points per game (second on the team) to go with 3.3 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game.
Prenger plays in
Crosstown Shootout

Cincinnati picked up an 82-73 victory over Xavier in Sunday's annual Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout at Fifth-Third Arena on the UC campus.

The loss sent the Musketeers to 4-6 on the season.

Minster grad Courtney Prenger played four minutes and scored two points in the loss to the Bearcats. Prenger, a junior, has appeared in nine games this season, averaging 7.4 minutes per game and scoring 1.2 points per game.

LeFevre sharp in opening meet

Fordham opened its indoor season on Dec. 4 at the Bill Ward Invitational hosted by St. John's University on Staten Island.

Junior Robert LeFevre (Fort Recovery) competed in two sprint events for the Rams, finishing sixth in the 200-meter dash and 23rd in the 60-meter dash.

The Rams return to action Jan. 8 for the Alumni Meet in the Bronx.
