Carolyn E. Homan age 77 of New Bremen, Ohio died Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at her home in New Bremen of liver cancer.

She was born November 4, 1943 in Shelby County, Ohio to the late Elmer & Bernadette (Bensman) Hoying. She married Marvin Homan on April 22, 1967 and he survives in New Bremen.

She is survived by children: Ann and Ken Gariety, Russia, Allen and Beth Homan, New Knoxville, Fred and Billie Homan, Botkins, Gwen and Nick Wilker, New Bremen, Frank and Becky Homan, New Bremen, Brenda Homan, West Chester, and Deb and Jeff Eschmeyer, New Knoxville; 22 grandchildren Austin (Natalie), Allison (Alex), Audrey (Zachary), Alana Gariety; Faith, Liam, Emma, Avery Homan; Grace, Denton, Luke, Norah, Mae Homan; Julia, Grant, Vince Wilker; Max, Troy, Lucy, Abe Homan; Eve, Isaac Eschmeyer; and siblings: Tim and Doris Hoying, McCartyville, John and Patricia Hoying, Manhattan Beach California, Steve and Ann Hoying, Minster, and Mary Kay and Dennis Wuebker, Maria Stein and in-laws: Don Dahlinghaus, Celina, Lester Homan, Dayton, Lavern and Marcia Homan, Anna, Sharon and Dennis Ontrop, Ft. Recovery, Orval and Helen Homan, Minster, Howard and Janice Homan, St. Mary's, Carol and Steve Wirick, Vandalia, Eugene and Mary Jane Homan, New Bremen, Steve and Therese Homan, Celina.

She was preceded in death by sister-in-law Marita Dahlinghaus, sister-in-law, Elizabeth Homan and infant son Matthew Homan.

She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, New Bremen. She was a 1961 graduate of Minster High School and a graduate of Ohio Northern University. With a strong work ethic, Carolyn worked side by side Marvin on the farm for 54 years and was Secretary and Treasurer of Homan Family Farms. Known for her rosy cheeks and quick wit, Carolyn enjoyed gardening, traveling with friends, and making the very best mashed potatoes and sweet corn for her grandchildren. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Carolyn during her 77 years, among them: if you eat a half a cookie, the calories don't count. You can eat half a cookie in her honor now and eat the other half later.

Mass will be held 10:30 AM on Monday, November 1, 2021 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, New Bremen and will be livestreamed on Holy Redeemer's Facebook page. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, McCartyville.

Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 1 to 5 PM on Sunday, October 31, 2021 and at Holy Redeemer Church from 9 to 10 AM on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Maria Stein Relic Chapel.
