Man, 66, dies in farm accident

By Sydney Albert
MARIA STEIN - A farm accident that resulted in the death of a Maria Stein man Thursday is under investigation by the Mercer County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were called to the scene of 7107 Indian Trail Road, Maria Stein, at 9:10 a.m. after central dispatch received a 911 call reporting a male that "may have been struck with a grain wagon."
First responders reportedly were unable to revive the subject, who was later identified as Brian Dahlinghaus, 66, who lived at that address.
The driver reportedly had not seen Dahlinghaus go in front of the wagon, according to chief deputy Gery Thobe.
Thobe could not say whether any citations or charges would be issued in the accident which remains under investigation.
The sheriff's office was assisted at the scene by the Osgood EMS and fire department.
