Lois Curth
Lois Lorene Curth, 87, of Findlay, Ohio, passed away on September 26, 2021 in Findlay, OH.
She was born on June 24, 1934 in Rockford, Ohio to the late Perry Wavel and Ruth Lorene (Wollet) Shaffer. She married Ronald Putman in 1953 and they later divorced.
Lois is survived by her children Debra Lynn (Putman) Crislip and Jeffrey Scott (Terry) Putman. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jeff (Jen) Putman and Dustin (Brooke) Crislip and step- grandchildren Vincent (Melissa) Ludwig, JC Ludwig, Vanessa Ludwig, Mike (Melissa) Ludwig. Lois was blessed with two great-grandchildren Braydon Crislip and Phoenix Crislip along with 16 step-great-grandchildren and 14 step-great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Daniel "Danny" Franklin Shaffer.
Lois graduated from Parkway High School in 1952 and went on to work for the Rockford Press as a Linotype Operator. She continued this career with The Perrysburg Messenger and Findlay Millstream Press. Lois finished her career at Ball Metal (formerly JeffCo). She gave 23 years of valued service, as a Quality Inspector, before retiring.
Lois was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, part of the AMVETs women's auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards especially, euchre, with friends of the Disabled American Veterans, AMVETs and the Moose. Lois will be remembered for her competitive, yet friendly spirit. She enjoyed riding horses and had an immense love for all animals. Lois's first horse, Scout, began her love for horses. Her children remember all the different types of animals they enjoyed with her over the years.
Lois's children had the following words to say about their mother. "Our mother instilled in us compassion for all animals, great and small, as well as a love for God and humankind. She loved her family and friends, never meeting a stranger, as they soon became friends. Mom was vivacious and fun loving. Many times growing up she would say, let's skip the housework today and go riding. So off we'd go. She always stood up for the underdog. She fought for equal pay and benefits for women as she worked in a male dominated workforce. She wasn't a true saint, but in our eyes she was that and more."
Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 29th at Coldren Crates Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 30th, with an hour of visitation prior to the service, at the funeral home. A lunch will take place, following the service, in Lois's memory at the AMVETS in Findlay, Ohio. Burial and graveside service will follow, the next day, at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford, Ohio at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 1st.
Memorial contributions may be made in Lois's memory to Bridge Hospice.
