Dale Bissell
Rev. Dale R. Bissell, age 88 of Celina, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Mary's with his wife and children by his side.
He was born on July 23, 1933 in East Liverpool, Ohio to the late Clyde and Thelma B. (Smith) Bissell. On October 12, 1951 he married Beverly Howell, his High School Sweetheart, who survives living in Celina.
He is also survived by his daughters Karen Storer of St. Marys, and Kim (Mike) Deal of Spencerville, three grandchildren, Stephanie Nodine, Chad (Carina) Deal and Christina (Steven) Christie, nine great grandchildren and his nephew Matt (Maureen) Pepe of Massillon.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, brother Blaine Bissell, son-in-law James Storer, and two great grandchildren.
He graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1951. Dale began his ministry in 1954 being licensed in West Virginia District Assembly and upon completing his studies and internship was ordained in 1960 at the Pittsburg Pennsylvania District Assembly. Over the years he pastored churches at Tiltonsville, Ohio, Monaca Pennsylvania, Stockdale, Pennsylvania, Springfield, Ohio, and St. Paris, Ohio and as an associate pastor of the Celina Church of the Nazarene.
He was a church planter, starting churches in Dillonvale, Ohio, Paris, Pennsylvania, and Springfield, Ohio. On the Pittsburg District, he served as District NYPS Teen Director for three years and then was elected as NYPS president serving two years and served a delegate to the General Assembly at Kansas City, Missouri and Portland, Oregon.
He completed the Hospital Pastoral Ministry training at the Mercy Memorial Hospital in Urbana Ohio and later served as a visiting clergy at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.
He served as Director of Evangelism on the Northwestern Ohio Church of the Nazarene. He and his wife were commissioned evangelists serving several years traveling, preaching, and singing across five states.
Moving to Celina in 1974, he started Dale Bissell Home Improvement and Carpet Cleaning. In 1977, he organized Victory Chapel as an independent congregation. He answered the call to the Mount Union Brethren Church in Christ Church in 1986, serving both Victory Chapel and Mount Union for eight years. Leaving Victory Chapel in 1994, he continued as a pastor at Mount Union until his death. Even as his health started to decline over the past several months, he still continued to find new ways to serve others and spread the gospel. Dale was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family was very special to him and he enjoyed family gatherings.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina, with Rev. Darryl Potts officiating. Burial will follow in the Mercer Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the Lehman Dzendzel Funeral Home. The Bissell Family would like to thank the Celina EMT and Joint Township District Emergency Staff for their dedicated professional care for Dale Bissell.
