CELINA - Celina Sanitary Landfill in Franklin Township will close on or around July 20, according to a letter sent to Mercer County officials.
Civil & Environmental Consultants, on behalf of the the landfill, submitted a letter to the Ohio EPA and county officials regarding final closure of the landfill at 6141 Depweg Road owned by Republic Services. The letter serves as a 30-day notice that the landfill will cease to accept solid waste on or about July 20. [More]

Officials offer advice on enjoying the holiday
CELINA - Summer is synonymous with cookouts, fireworks and parties. As Mercer and Auglaize county residents prep for Independence Day weekend, experts offered their tips on how to stay safe while celebrating.
CELINA - Schwieterman Pharmacy's Celina location will close Saturday, owner Dale Bertke said Thursday afternoon.
The decision to close the location is a business decision, Bertke said, due in part to competition and issues with lower reimbursements from third-party payers such as Medicaid.
MINSTER - The council street committee met Thursday morning to again discuss the possible installation of sidewalks on State Route 119 on the north side of the village.
Store's doors open July 17
CELINA - The Harbor Freight Tools store in Celina will open at 8 a.m. on July 17, according to a company news release.
The store will be located at the site of the former Gordmans department store in the Lakewood Village Shopping Center at 1951 Havemann Road. Gordmans closed last year.
COLDWATER - An Eagles tribute band will headline a free event benefiting local fire, emergency medical service and law enforcement departments today at the Coldwater Memorial Park amphitheater.
WAPAKONETA - Officials in an Auglaize County Health Department news release Thursday reported three new confirmed cases of COVID-19 since their last report on Tuesday, raising the county's cumulative case count to 3,705.
