* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:40 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 13.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

Herbert Slaven Jr.
Herbert Slaven, Jr., 70 of Botkins, Ohio, died 2:06 A.M. Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Saint Ritas Medical Center, Lima.
He was born December 27, 1950, in Celina, Ohio, the son of Herbert and Areda (Hall) Slaven, Sr. He married Barbara Drexler on July 16, 2011; she survives in Botkins.
He is also survived by his children: Danny Cooper of Saint Marys; Kimberly Davenport of Saint Marys; Scott Slaven of Saint Marys; Missy Headley of Saint Marys; Crystal Spencer of Saint Marys; Brooke Slaven Lovett of South Carolina. He is survived by 17 grandchildren; by 14 great-grandchildren; by his siblings: Mary Tremmell of Omaha, Nebraska; Vina Woods of Celina; Stacey Spurlock of Wapakoneta; Vickie Burkhart of Saint Marys; James Slaven of Rockford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Deb Williams; Larry Hicks; Luther Slaven; Charlie Slaven; Sue Rose; Jack Hicks; by a grandson: Joshua Davenport.
Herb was a 1968 graduate of St. Henry High School. He was drafted into the US Army and served in the Vietnam War. He retired from Fitzwater Tree Service in Greenville. He enjoyed watching old Western movies on TV, fishing, and family get togethers.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 3, 2021, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Ohio, Pastor Andrew Atkins, officiant. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-6 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to his family. All visitors to the funeral home are required to wear a mask, in accordance with the mandate of the Ohio Department of Health.
