CELINA - Celina Rotarians on Tuesday got a sneak peak of updated plans for the $23 million The Boardwalk Village, a development with townhouses, cottages, a market and other amenities.
Developer Randy Bruns said he's striving to create a lakeside, community-style environment with a low-key, flip-flops-and-t-shirt vibe. Bruns Construction Enterprises is developing the project. [More]
Comeback falls short

CELINA - After the Celina softball team erased an eight-run deficit, Minster seemed to be on the ropes.
The Bulldogs had the winning run on second with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but the Wildcats got a double play to end the threat before scoring two of their own in the top of the eighth, and Celina couldn't answer again as Minster survived with an 11-9 extra-innings win at Jim Hoess Field on Tuesday. Teens are next in line for vaccinations
CELINA - A small number of COVID-19 vaccination appointments will be offered for children ages 16-17 on Friday and Monday at the Mercer County Health District located in the Central Services Building in Celina.
Fire causes estimated $2M damage
ST. MARYS - No animals or people reportedly were harmed in a fire reported Tuesday morning at a poultry barn outside St. Marys.
St. Marys Township Fire Chief Chad Hicks deemed the structure a total loss, and estimated the damage at about $2 million.
Mendon junk ordinance riles resident
MENDON - A resident during Tuesday evening's village council meeting asked if the village's zoning ordinances and codes are being applied evenly to all property owners in the village.
County jobless rate up again
Mercer County's unemployment rate increased for the second month in a row, up to 3.7% in February from 3.4% in January.
The county dropped from the second lowest rate of joblessness in Ohio to fourth, according to an Ohio Department of Job and Family Services news release.
