Leo Kunk
Leo Joseph Kunk, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 26, 2021 in Tucson, Arizona.
Leo Kunk was born on November 15, 1928 at home in Saint Rose, OH. On April 18, 1950 Leo married the love of his life and mother of his children, Pauline Marie Seifring. Together they raised 10 children.
Leo is survived by his children: Ronald (Pamela) Kunk of Sidney, OH, Ginny (John) Mandzak of Monroe, OH, Dennis (Shirley) Kunk of Celina, OH, Clem (Donna) Kunk, of Tucson, AZ, William Kunk, of Canela, AZ, Marilyn (Andrew) Pastizzo, of Wynantskill, NY, Timothy (Timilee) Kunk of Tucson, AZ, Gerald (Muria) Kunk, of Sparta, WI, Cynthia (William) Beringson of Tucson, AZ, Donna Jean (Jim) Thompson, of Tucson, AZ. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren, and 44 great-grandchildren with more on the way.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Pauline Marie Seifring, three grandsons, twins Robert and Michael Rabe, Nikolas Kunk, as well as his brothers and sisters Ray Kunk, Rich Kunk, Ed Kunk, Katherine Prenger, Mary Ann Oehrtman, Luella Klenke, and Dolores VandeMark.
Leo spent most of his life as a devoted husband, father and farmer, encouraging his children to participate in FFA and 4-H. Many championships and ribbons were achieved for showing cattle at the county fair and national shows. Leo was also awarded Outstanding Young Farmer of America.
Leo and Polly lived on the family farm with his parents. The family was very close and came home on weekends to spend time not only with their parents but especially with Leo. The men would enjoy rabbit hunting as the women prepared the meals.
Moving west in 1978 to Willcox, Arizona, Leo and Polly farmed side by side for some years. At that time, they broadened their horizons by managing the Holstein calf's operation, working for the largest dairy farm on this side of the Mississippi, Shamrock Farms.
Leo and Polly would spend many hours playing Midwestern cards games. Their favorites were pinochle and euchre which are a tradition that continues in the family today.
Many will remember him as a faithful member of St. Francis de Sales Parish. Leo would spend each morning devoted to many hours of prayer for his family, and others in need. His kindness and integrity were never in doubt and he will be missed by all.
Rosary and visitation were Wednesday, March 3rd at 6:00 pm, Arizona time. It is available virtually through Brings Funeral Home website at https://webcast.funeralvue.com//events/viewer/49326.
A private Catholic Mass was held on Thursday, March 4th, 2021 for family members. Interment was at Holy Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations for memorial Masses in honor of Leo Kunk may be made to St. Francis de Sales, 1375 S. Camino Seco, Tucson, AZ 85710.
