Andrew Schlarman
Andrew H. Schlarman age 83, of Maria Stein passed away at 5:13 PM on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Mercer Health in Coldwater.
He was born March 15, 1937 in St. Rose, Ohio to the late Lawrence & Philomena (Hartings) Schlarman. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Delores Wendel and they were married in St. Peter on April 15, 1961.
He is also survived by children: Janice & John Knapke, Union City, Ohio, Nick & girlfriend Gina Stigelman, Redkey, IN, Ken & Carol (Poeppelman) Schlarman, Chickasaw, daughter-in-law Deb (Schuh) & her husband John Hoyt, Chickasaw, son-in-law Robert Platfoot St. Henry, 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, sister Marie & William Wendel, Chickasaw, sister-in-law Sara Schlarman, Celina, in-laws: Rita Wynk, Celina, Rosann & Clete Prenger, Minster, Kate Wendel, Karen (Quinter) Wendel, Donald Wendel, Ernest & Marilyn (Evers) Wendel all of St. Henry, David & Eileen (Hart) Wendel, Marilyn (Quinter) Wendel, both of Ft. Recovery, Dan Bruns & Janet Kuck, Chickasaw, Margie & Nick Meier, St. Rose.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Lawrence Schlarman, daughter Lynn Platfoot, brother Elmer Schlarman, in-laws Rochus & Mildred Wendel, Bob Wendel, Mary Bruns, Ronald Wendel, Bob Wynk and Dave Kuck.
Andy was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and a Eucharistic Minister and member of the men's sodality. He was a 1955 graduate of St. John High School and began his farming career at the age of 16.
His love for the Marion Local Flyers was shown through his 27 years as a bus driver for Marion Local Schools. He also drove for the band and the swim team to their events. He was a lifelong member of the Catholic Financial Life formerly known as the CKA. His love for community was shown as a member of the American Legion Post (past commander), uniform member of the Knights of St. John (past commander) and a Country Fest committee member.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM on Friday July 3, 2020 at St. Rose Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Rose Cemetery with full military honors.
Friends may call at Hogenkamp Funeral Home Minster from 2 to 7 PM on Thursday, July 2 and from 9 to 10 AM on Friday, July 3.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Do Good Ministries and the Center for Neurological Development.
